Alison Krauss - Down to the River to Pray

Once I tried to retrieve some deleted images from a damaged memory card. The software I was using was more successful than I could ever have dreamed. I found some images on the card from the camera's previous owner, pictures of adult baptisms at a river. Pictures that I certainly didn't take. While voyeuristic, yes, there was something strangely touching about seeing these pictures. But also, I really like Alison Krauss, don't you?

Happy weekend!

Fragmented

Friends, I'm feeling fragmented so I'm not going to post anything for you tonight. Sorry, I've got nothing for you to see here, but stay tuned and I'll give some music tomorrow. Deal?

Natural

Once in a while, I like to leave pictures alone, not process them endlessly. This challenges my skills, trying to take good shots the first time around so I don't spend needless time 'fixing' my mistakes. For some reason, today I like this what-you-see-is-what-you-get approach.

The Crazy Pictures

It's funny how the smallest alteration to something can so dramatically change it.  These pictures, hardly recognizable subjects in this state, were rather ordinary before just a few clicks. I'm trying to get at, not what something looks like, but what it feels like. It's not unlike the difference between prose and poetry. We have prose to give a clear and simple narrative, but poetry asks that we play with words to get to the true heart of something. Does that make sense?

Glorious Weekend

My husband and I spent a great weekend on the shores of Lake Erie with some good friends. We spent hours talking on the terrace as the sun set over the water. We walked for hours in the blistering heat looking for birds at Ottowa Nature Preserve and Magee Marsh. We ate sinful burgers at a biker bar called Terry's Tavern. These are some of my 'normal' pictures from the weekend. I'll share some of the less normal ones with you soon. All in all, a perfect weekend, no?
