Advice
I recently read a blog post in which the blogger dispensed advice to single gals which I wish I had followed myself years ago. "Paint your walls pink while you still can." She reasoned that this would be less possible once you had a husband to weigh in on paint colors. I thought it was sound advice. And in all fairness to myself, I did have a lavender dining room when I was single.
If you've ever seen the movie 'The Graduate', you will undoubtedly recall the scene when Dustin Hoffman is given some sage advice on what to do with his life now that he's graduated. Plastics.
Free advice is everywhere, particularly with a slumping economy. A friend of mine was recently told she should go into marketing, "because that's what people value." Well what if, as my friend laughingly informed me, you suck at marketing? And what if you care less about popular opinion, and more about really shining at whatever it is you've chosen to do? On one hand, in this economy, beggers can't be choosers. But some of the world's most notable successes were born out of desparate circumstances. I digress.
What is the worst - or best - advice you've ever been given?

Weekend Visit
One of my sisters is living a mere 3-hour drive away from me for a short time. She visited last weekend, and aside from our endless chatter about this and that, we did one of our favorite things together; eat. We ate everything from barbeque, to Ethiopian food, to French food. With her living so close, I may have to dedicate weekdays to a strict diet!
I hope you're having a lovely week.
